Application for early detection of ocular pathologies
The Foundation is collaborating in the implementation of an application for the early detection of retinoblastoma and other eye diseases such as congenital cataract and Coats disease.
- The project consists of automatically detecting leukocoria in photographs taken with a mobile phone using artificial intelligence.

The Fundació La Nineta dels Ulls manages the collection of photographs of the eyes of patients with ocular pathologies that may present leukocoria as a symptom (retinoblastoma, congenital cataract or Coats disease). Many photographs are needed to be able to efficiently use machine learning and artificial intelligence tools. And as this pathology is a minority, it is very difficult to find images with these symptoms.
