On June 13, Fundació La Nineta dels Ulls had the honor of participating in the 4th Congress of People with Cancer and Families in Catalonia, organized by the Spanish Cancer Association. The event brought together more than 400 attendees, including patients, family members, healthcare professionals, researchers, and representatives of social organizations committed to improving the lives of people affected by cancer.
The congress provided an important platform for dialogue, learning, and reflection on the challenges faced by people living with cancer and their families. Throughout the event, participants explored topics related to comprehensive care, research, emotional well-being, and the importance of support networks.
Fundació La Nineta dels Ulls participated as a speaker in the roundtable discussion “The Impact of Cancer on Childhood and Adolescence”, a session dedicated to highlighting the specific needs of children, teenagers, and families affected by cancer. The organization shared the panel with AFANOC, Fundación Xana, and Vall d’Hebron.
During its intervention, the foundation emphasized the need to strengthen initiatives that promote emotional well-being, educational inclusion, and social participation for children and adolescents undergoing or recovering from cancer treatment. It also highlighted the crucial role of families, who often face significant emotional, social, and financial challenges throughout the cancer journey.
The congress offered a valuable opportunity to exchange experiences, build partnerships, and reinforce the collective commitment to providing more inclusive, person-centered, and compassionate support for people affected by cancer.
Fundació La Nineta dels Ulls expressed its gratitude to the Spanish Cancer Association for organizing such an enriching and meaningful event, which gives a voice to people affected by cancer while emphasizing the importance of support, research, and family-centered care.
