La Nineta dels Ulls Foundation Attends International Conferences on Retinoblastoma in Oslo

A Global Scientific Meeting

On September 12 and 13, La Nineta dels Ulls Foundation had the privilege of participating in two highly significant events for the medical and scientific community: the ISGEDR Congress (International Society for Genetic Eye Disease and Retinoblastoma) and the EURBG (European Retinoblastoma Group), held in Oslo, Norway.

These international conferences on retinoblastoma are annual gatherings that bring together specialists from oncology, pediatrics, genetics, ophthalmology, and clinical research to share advancements and create synergies that improve diagnosis and treatment of this rare childhood eye cancer.

Why Are International Conferences on Retinoblastoma Important?

Retinoblastoma is a rare but complex childhood eye cancer. Its detection and treatment require multidisciplinary teams and ongoing research.

Participation in international conferences on retinoblastoma provides the opportunity to learn about the latest therapies, diagnostic techniques, and strategies for supporting families. It is also a platform to address ongoing challenges, such as equitable access to treatment and improving the quality of life for children and their families.

Collaborative and Inspiring Work

During the conferences, innovative studies on targeted therapies, genetic diagnostics, and advanced imaging technologies were presented. The discussions highlighted the importance of international collaboration to advance research lines that would otherwise progress more slowly.

The Foundation emphasized that “it was incredibly encouraging to see the scientific community working with such passion and commitment, sharing knowledge with the sole aim of improving outcomes for children with retinoblastoma.”

Learning, Sharing, and Building New Alliances

Beyond presentations, these events provide an opportunity to exchange experiences with professionals and organizations from other countries. Participation allowed the Foundation to:

  • Gain firsthand knowledge of ongoing innovative projects.

  • Share their experience in supporting families in Catalonia and Spain.

  • Establish contacts that could lead to future international collaborations in research and patient support.

Impact on Families and Future Perspectives

For affected families, attending these conferences is a message of hope. Every scientific or medical advancement increases the possibility of earlier diagnoses, less aggressive treatments, and better quality of life.

The Foundation stresses that these gatherings are essential not only for knowledge sharing but also to keep hope alive and highlight the needs of families.

Renewed Commitment to Research and Support

After this experience in Oslo, La Nineta dels Ulls Foundation is more motivated than ever to continue its work in awareness, research, and family support.
