Fundació La Nineta dels Ulls presents new accessories for the “Nixi and Retinoblastoma” plush toy, a project created to support children with retinoblastoma throughout their medical journey.
One year ago, this initiative was launched with the aim of providing an emotional support tool for children facing diagnoses, treatments, or surgical procedures related to retinoblastoma. The Nixi plush has become a therapeutic resource that helps explain, understand, and normalise what many children experience during their treatment process.
“Nixi and Retinoblastoma” was born from a real need identified by Fundació La Nineta dels Ulls, which also proposed adding these new accessories to the plush toy: pieces that simulate ocular prostheses.
Thanks to a simple system using velcro and stickers, children can play at placing a prosthesis on their plush toy. This symbolic gesture transforms fear into play, facilitates understanding of the medical process, and encourages acceptance — turning play into a powerful tool for emotional support.
With this expansion, the Foundation reinforces its commitment to comprehensive family support and to developing innovative resources that help children experience their journey with greater confidence, security, and emotional wellbeing.
