The La Nineta dels Ulls Foundation has been awarded the fifth and sixth Nixi Golden Badge, a distinction that recognizes the commitment, dedication and long-standing involvement of Carme Julià and Joan Carles, who have been supporting children with retinoblastoma and their families from the very beginning.
This recognition highlights a collaboration built on trust and shared values, which has made possible the development of the Nixi and Retinoblastoma project. This initiative was created to help children and their families better understand the medical procedures associated with this rare childhood eye cancer.
Thanks to the active involvement of the Foundation, the first six episodes of “Learn with Nixi” were produced. These educational resources were specifically designed to provide clear information, practical tools and emotional support to families living with retinoblastoma. By explaining complex medical processes in a child-friendly way, the project helps reduce fear and anxiety and allows families to better prepare for treatment.
The La Nineta dels Ulls Foundation receives this award as a great honor and as recognition of the importance of collaboration between organizations committed to the humanization of pediatric healthcare. Projects such as Nixi demonstrate that working together can lead to meaningful tools that have a real and positive impact on the lives of many families.
The Foundation will continue to promote initiatives that combine information, emotional support and awareness-raising, with the aim of improving the hospital experience of children with retinoblastoma and strengthening support for their families.
